About Mesa Gateway Airport

Mesa Gateway Airport serves Greater Phoenix and the East Valley from southeast Mesa, Arizona. The site began as a military pilot training base and reopened for public aviation in 1994 as Williams Gateway Airport; it later became Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and was renamed Mesa Gateway Airport in late 2024.

The airport operates through a single passenger terminal, the Charles L. Williams Terminal, which has 10 gates and is a base for Allegiant Air, the airport's main carrier. Nonstop flights link the airport with more than 40 U.S. cities, making it a convenient low-cost option for travelers across the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Located about 35 miles (56 km) southeast of downtown Phoenix, the airport is reached mainly by car via the US-60 and Loop 202 freeways. Ground transportation includes taxis, ride-share services, shuttles, private transfers and rental cars, while Valley Metro bus route 184 provides a public transit link.

The compact single-terminal layout supports short walking distances, and the terminal provides dining, shopping, free Wi-Fi, charging and accessibility services. These features make the airport an easy-to-use gateway for passengers heading to Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe and other East Valley destinations.
