Mehamn Airport (MEH)

Mehamn Airport is a regional airport serving the village of Mehamn in Gamvik Municipality, Finnmark county, northern Norway. Opened in 1974 and operated by the state-owned Avinor, it also serves the nearby communities of Gamvik and Kjøllefjord on the Nordkinn Peninsula. The airport handles scheduled regional flights operated by Widerøe using Dash 8 aircraft, with direct services to Honningsvåg and Vadsø and onward connections via Hammerfest and Tromsø to destinations elsewhere in Norway and Europe. Its single compact terminal combines check-in, security, arrivals and an integrated control tower, and the tower is remotely controlled from Bodø. Located roughly one to two kilometres from Mehamn centre, the airport is easy to reach on foot, by taxi or by private car, and free parking is available at the terminal. The short walk to the village takes about fifteen minutes. As a small, practical gateway to the far north, Mehamn Airport gives travellers access to the Nordkinn Peninsula, the Slettnes lighthouse and Kinnarodden, the northernmost point on the European mainland.
