About Matsapha International Airport

Matsapha International Airport is located in the Manzini District of Eswatini, near the town of Matsapha. Opened in the 1960s and expanded in the late 1970s, it served as the kingdom's main international gateway before scheduled commercial flights moved to King Mswati III International Airport in 2014.

Today the airport primarily handles government, royal and mercy flight movements. Its single runway and compact terminal continue to support limited operations, with refueling, ground handling, air traffic control and weather services provided under the Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority.

The airport lies a short distance from Manzini and roughly 35 km from Mbabane, the capital. Road access via the MR3 corridor connects the site to Manzini, Mbabane and the industrial areas of Matsapha.

Passenger facilities at the airport are limited, and operating hours generally run from 08:00 to 17:00 on weekdays. Most commercial travel services, dining, accommodation and car hire options are available in nearby Manzini or Mbabane.
