Mati National Airport is a small community airport serving Mati, the capital city of Davao Oriental on the eastern coast of Mindanao. It was originally built in the 1970s and once carried the name Imelda R. Marcos Airport before being renamed after the city it serves.
The airport lies in Barangay Dahican, about 6 km east of central Mati, and has a single runway of around 1,625 metres along with a compact passenger terminal. It currently handles chartered flights and light aircraft, while a development programme is underway to upgrade the runway, terminal and support facilities for future commercial operations.
By road, the airport is a short drive from Mati's city centre and coastal areas such as Dahican Beach, a popular surfing and beach destination. Davao City, the region's main commercial hub and international gateway, is the nearest major airport city and is roughly three hours away by road.
