About Marshall Don Hunter Sr Airport

Marshall Don Hunter Sr Airport is a state-owned public-use airport serving Marshall, a small Yup'ik community on the Yukon River in western Alaska. Because Marshall has no road connection to other communities, the airport is essential for passengers, freight, mail and medical travel, linking the village with regional centers such as Bethel and St. Mary's. Opened in March 2003, the airport occupies about 400 acres roughly two miles southeast of the Marshall central business district. It operates a single gravel runway, 7/25, measuring 3,200 by 100 feet, with medium-intensity runway edge lighting and no control tower. Passenger facilities are limited and typical of a small Alaskan village airport. The site has an automated weather system, a lighted wind indicator, tiedown parking and a weather camera, but no fuel service, terminal shops or on-site restaurants. Travelers reach the village by local vehicle along the airport access road, a short drive of about five to ten minutes. Scheduled commuter and air taxi operators connect Marshall with Bethel, St. Mary's, Russian Mission and other Yukon-Kuskokwim communities.
