Marin County Airport, commonly known as Gnoss Field, is Marin County's only public airport and serves the North Bay region of California. It began as a private airfield shortly after World War II and was acquired by Marin County in 1960, when it was developed and renamed Gnoss Field.
Located in unincorporated Marin County about two miles north of downtown Novato, the airport sits between Highway 101 and the Petaluma River. It functions as a general aviation and reliever airport for the San Francisco Bay Area, supporting private, charter, and business flights rather than scheduled airline service.
The airfield has a single paved runway, 13/31, measuring about 3,300 feet, plus aircraft parking and hangar facilities. Services are centered on the fixed-base operator, which provides fuel, flight planning support, a pilot lounge, Wi-Fi, and other amenities.
Access is straightforward by car via Airport Road off Highway 101. The airport is roughly 27 miles north of San Francisco, with Novato, San Rafael, Sonoma, and Napa all within reasonable driving distance for onward travel.
