About Mara North Conservancy Airstrip

Mara North Conservancy Airstrip is a small bush airstrip serving the private Mara North Conservancy within the greater Maasai Mara ecosystem in Narok County, Kenya. It operates primarily for domestic safari flights from Nairobi's Wilson Airport and for private charters, bringing travelers directly into the conservancy.

Located inside the conservancy at an elevation of about 5,500 feet, the airstrip has a grass runway and a simple open shelter rather than a formal terminal. Scheduled flights by Safarilink and AirKenya take roughly 45 minutes from Wilson Airport, with some services making additional stops at other Mara airstrips.

The airstrip has no customs or passport control and only minimal facilities, so international arrival procedures are completed in Nairobi. Camp representatives meet passengers beside the aircraft and handle transfers to lodges and camps such as Kicheche Mara, Saruni Mara, Elephant Pepper and Karen Blixen, with short game-drive transfers through the conservancy.

By road, the Maasai Mara lies approximately 280 km west of Nairobi, a journey of roughly 5 to 6 hours, making the airstrip a significantly faster and more convenient option for reaching the northern conservancies.
