About Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport

Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport is the main general aviation airport serving Mansfield and Richland County in north central Ohio. It is a city-owned, civil-military facility that is also home to the Ohio Air National Guard's 179th Airlift Wing, which has operated C-130 Hercules aircraft from the airfield since 1976.

The airport opened at its current location in 1928 and is named for Mansfield native Frank Purdy Lahm, a pioneering Army aviator and balloonist. The airfield was renamed and dedicated in his honor on September 9, 1967. Although the airport does not currently offer scheduled commercial flights, charter service and general aviation activity are available through the fixed-base operator.

Located about three miles north of downtown Mansfield, the airport has two runways, including a 9,001-foot primary runway and a 6,819-foot crosswind runway, plus an FAA air traffic control tower that operates daily. Its size allows it to accommodate large commercial, military and cargo aircraft.

The airport sits near Interstate 71, U.S. Route 30 and State Route 13, putting it roughly an hour's drive from both Cleveland and Columbus. Travelers can continue into Mansfield by car, taxi, rental car or arranged private transfer, with facilities for corporate aviation and visiting pilots on site.
