About Mankato Regional Airport

Located about five miles northeast of downtown Mankato in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, the airport serves as the main general aviation gateway for the city and the wider south-central Minnesota region. It is owned by the City of Mankato and operated through North Star Aviation, which provides full fixed-base operator services.

The airport opened in 1971 and has been upgraded over the years, including a remodeled terminal completed in 2020. Its single public terminal building houses arrival and departure areas, a pilots' lounge, flight planning space, classrooms and a conference room. A 6,600-foot primary runway with an instrument landing system and a 4,000-foot crosswind runway support private, corporate, charter and flight-training operations.

There is no scheduled commercial airline service, but travelers can connect to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport through a Landline ground service offered with Sun Country. The airport sits off Airport Road with highway links to Mankato, North Mankato, St. Peter and New Ulm, and provides on-site car rental, taxi access and courtesy vehicles.

With fuel, hangars, maintenance and modern passenger facilities, the airport offers a convenient regional gateway for business aviation, private pilots and visitors exploring the Minnesota River Valley.
