It connects the area to Dallas/Fort Worth and Chicago O'Hare through American Eagle regional jet service, supporting both business and leisure travel as well as nearby Kansas State University and Fort Riley.
The airport is located about five miles west of central Manhattan on Kansas Highway 18, roughly 10 to 15 minutes by road. A terminal expansion completed in phases between 2015 and 2016 brought the facility to about 42,000 square feet with two gates, two boarding bridges, a baggage carousel and a meet-and-greet area.
