About Malacca International Airport
Malacca International Airport is the main airport serving Melaka (Malacca), a historic state on the southwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Located in Batu Berendam, about 10 km north of Melaka city centre, the airport is a compact regional gateway for both domestic and international travellers.
The airport dates back to 1952, when it operated as Batu Berendam Airport. A modern single-terminal building opened in May 2009, replacing the older facilities, and covers around 7,000 square metres with capacity for up to 1.5 million passengers annually. The airport has a single runway of approximately 2,135 metres.
Current scheduled services connect Melaka with regional destinations, including international flights to Singapore and Pekanbaru. The compact terminal keeps check-in, security, immigration and arrivals in one easy-to-navigate building, which generally makes passenger processing quicker than at larger hubs.
Ground transportation includes taxis, ride-hailing services such as Grab, and local buses to Melaka Sentral, from where travellers can continue to the historic city centre, nearby coastal areas and other parts of the state.
