About Loring Seaplane Base
Loring Seaplane Base is a small public seaplane landing area serving Loring, a remote community on the western shore of Revillagigedo Island in southeast Alaska. The base was activated in April 1962 and is owned by the Ketchikan Gateway Borough.
It consists of a water landing area approximately 10,000 feet long by 2,000 feet wide, oriented east to west, with a dock for seaplane access. The base has no terminal building, control tower, fuel services or other passenger facilities, and it is used mainly by floatplanes serving the local community and surrounding coastal waters.
Located about 15 miles north of Ketchikan, the base has no direct road connection to the city; access is generally by boat or floatplane. Ketchikan International Airport (KTN) lies about 15 nautical miles to the south and provides scheduled airline connections for the region.
