About Lonorore Airport
Lonorore Airport is a small domestic airport serving southern Pentecost Island in Vanuatu's Penama Province. It began as a grass airstrip and was upgraded in 2008–2009 with a longer, sealed runway and a new terminal building.
Located about 3 km south of Baravet village in an old coconut plantation, the airport is used for Air Vanuatu domestic flights to Port Vila and Luganville, sometimes via Ambae. Schedules vary, with services typically operating on three or four days each week.
Between April and June the airport receives day visitors from Port Vila who travel to watch the island's land-diving ceremonies, which take place on a hill overlooking the airport.
Road connections link the airport to nearby villages, with local transport, private transfers and pre-arranged vehicles providing onward travel across southern Pentecost.
