About London Oxford Airport
London Oxford Airport is a privately owned airport near Kidlington in Oxfordshire, about 11 km north of Oxford city centre and roughly 100 km from central London. Formerly known as Oxford Airport and Kidlington Airport, it now focuses on business and general aviation and is the only commercial airport between London Heathrow and Birmingham.
The site was purchased by Oxford City Council in 1935 as a municipal airport and became operational in 1938, with a formal inauguration in 1939. It was used by the Royal Air Force as RAF Kidlington during the Second World War and later developed into a regional aviation centre. A new business aviation terminal, operated by Oxfordjet, was completed in 2008, and the airport was renamed London Oxford Airport in 2009.
The airport is reached via the A44 and A4260 roads and sits close to junction 9 of the M40 motorway. Local bus services, taxis, private transfers, chauffeur cars and car rental provide onward connections to Oxford, Kidlington, Woodstock, Bicester and the wider Cotswolds and Oxfordshire region.
