About Heathrow Airport
Heathrow Airport is the main international airport serving London and the wider south-east of England. Opened as London Airport in 1946, it has grown into one of the world's busiest international hubs, connecting the United Kingdom with destinations across Europe, the Americas, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Located in Hillingdon, about 23 km west of central London, the airport operates from four passenger terminals. Terminal 2 primarily serves Star Alliance airlines, Terminal 3 handles many Oneworld and other international carriers, Terminal 4 is used mainly by SkyTeam members and several Gulf airlines, and Terminal 5 is home to British Airways and Iberia.
The airport is linked to London by the Heathrow Express to Paddington, the Elizabeth line, the Piccadilly line, buses, coaches, taxis, private transfers and road connections via the M4 and M25, making onward travel to the city centre and surrounding areas straightforward.
With extensive shopping, dining, lounges and passenger facilities, Heathrow serves leisure and business travellers alike and acts as the United Kingdom's principal international gateway.
