Livermore Municipal Airport (LVK)

Livermore Municipal Airport is a city-owned general aviation reliever airport serving Livermore and California's Tri-Valley region at the eastern edge of the San Francisco Bay Area. Opened in December 1965, the airport has grown from 257 acres to about 590 acres and today supports hundreds of based aircraft through hangars, tie-downs and aviation services. Located about three miles west of downtown Livermore and roughly 40 miles east of San Francisco, LVK provides a convenient gateway for private, business and corporate aviation without the congestion of larger Bay Area airports. Its primary runway, 7L/25R, is 5,253 feet long and served by an ILS approach, while the parallel 7R/25L runway primarily handles lighter piston and training traffic. Five Rivers Aviation operates as the airport's full-service fixed-base operator, offering fuel, line service, hangar space, maintenance, catering, crew cars and concierge support. The on-site Elevation LVK restaurant, which opened in 2019, adds dining options for pilots, passengers and visitors. Because LVK does not offer scheduled commercial airline service, travelers use private aircraft, charter flights or ground transportation connections from nearby commercial airports. The airport is linked to the surrounding area by local roads, taxis, rideshares, rental cars and private transfer services, with downtown Livermore only a short drive away.
