Las Flores Airport (ELB)

Las Flores Airport is a regional airport serving El Banco, a Magdalena River port in the south of Colombia's Magdalena Department. It is located about 5 km north of the town centre and functions as a gateway to the wider Momposina Depression region, a low-lying area of river communities and agricultural land.

Built around 1950, the airport was once a strategic point of regional connectivity and among the most important air terminals in the country during that decade, with commercial flights linking El Banco to cities such as Barranquilla and Bogotá. After years without regular commercial operations, the facility now mainly handles state flights, and authorities have been working on its reactivation.

The airport has a single asphalt runway of approximately 1,215 metres and a compact passenger terminal. It is reached by road along National Route 43 in the direction of Chimichagua, with taxis and private transfers providing the main connections to El Banco.

Although services remain limited, the planned return of commercial routes and ongoing improvements to the runway, taxiway, apron and access road aim to restore Las Flores Airport's role as a convenient air link for the region.
