About Lake Cumberland Regional Airport

Lake Cumberland Regional Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Somerset and Pulaski County in south-central Kentucky. Opened in August 1952, it was formerly known as Somerset-Pulaski County Airport and J.T. Wilson Field before being renamed in 2008.

Located about 3 nautical miles (6 km) south of downtown Somerset, the airport occupies 288 acres and operates a single asphalt runway, 5/23, measuring 5,801 by 100 feet. A terminal building on the southeast side of the runway houses the fixed-base operator and passenger lounge, supporting corporate, training, and recreational flying rather than scheduled airline service.

Access is primarily by private vehicle, rental car, taxi, or ride-hailing, with road connections through Somerset linking the airport to US 27 and the surrounding region. The airport also provides a courtesy car for visiting pilots and flight crews.

With fuel service, hangars, tiedowns, pilot and passenger lounges, and nearby access to Lake Cumberland, Burnside, and the Daniel Boone National Forest, the airport functions as a convenient gateway for general aviation travelers visiting the region.
