Moulay Ahmed Medeghri Airport is the domestic airport serving Laghouat, a town at the threshold of the Sahara in north-central Algeria, and the surrounding region. It provides scheduled domestic connections that link the area with Algiers and other Algerian cities, and operates as a joint civil and military facility.
Opened to civil aviation in 2003, the airport kept a military component while introducing scheduled passenger services. Its first civil flight took place on 22 January 2003, and services have since been operated mainly by Air Algérie.
The airport is located southeast of central Laghouat and has a single passenger terminal with departure and arrival areas, a public hall and two boarding lounges. A VIP lounge, cafeteria, prayer room and car parking for around 120 vehicles support the passenger experience.
Access is primarily by taxi along the road link to Laghouat, with private transfers and rental cars offering additional options for reaching the city centre and continuing to other destinations in the region.
