The airport recently completed a major modernization program that included a resurfaced 5,000-by-150-foot asphalt runway, LED runway lighting, an upgraded weather station and a renewed fueling area. Its single terminal, the Aérogare Gaston-Hamel, was renovated to improve amenities for pilots and passengers.
Situated in the heart of La Tuque along Boulevard Ducharme, the airport is only a short drive from the city centre, shops and restaurants. There is no scheduled public transit, so most travelers continue by private transfer, taxi, courtesy car or rental vehicle.
