About La Sarre Airport
La Sarre Airport is a small regional airport serving La Sarre and the Abitibi-Ouest area of northwestern Quebec. It is located about 12 km north of the town, in the neighbouring municipality of Clermont, and functions mainly as a gateway for general aviation, private aircraft, cargo operations and seasonal aerial firefighting support.
The airport has one asphalt runway measuring 1,433 m (4,702 ft) in length and 30.5 m (100 ft) in width, along with a small terminal building. Its facilities support private and business aircraft as well as specialized operations such as CL-215 water bombers used in the region.
Operations are seasonal, and the airport is normally closed from November 1 to April 30, with exact opening and closing dates depending on weather conditions. The municipal fuel tanks and refuelling stations were replaced in 2024 as part of improvements to regional airport infrastructure.
For onward travel, Taxi 6000 operates an airport shuttle to La Sarre and the surrounding Abitibi-Ouest territory. Regional intercity bus services through Autobus Maheux connect the wider Abitibi-Témiscamingue area with destinations including Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or and Montréal.
