Las Gaviotas Airport (LGT)

Las Gaviotas Airport is a small regional airfield serving the village of Las Gaviotas, a pioneering eco-community in the eastern Llanos of Colombia's Vichada Department. The airfield supports light aircraft and charter flights for visitors, residents and supply journeys to this remote part of the Orinoco basin.

The airfield operates a single grass runway of about 1,355 metres, suitable for small aircraft. It is located within the municipality of Cumaribo, one of Colombia's largest and most sparsely populated municipalities, and provides an important connection to a region with limited road access.

Las Gaviotas is far from major urban centres, and overland access is difficult; road journeys from Bogotá can take many hours. Pre-arranged transfers, chauffeur-driven vehicles and light-aircraft charters are therefore common ways to reach the village and continue to surrounding areas.

Because passenger facilities at the airfield are minimal, travellers are advised to coordinate arrivals, luggage and onward transport in advance. The airport's value lies in its role as a practical gateway for the Gaviotas community and the wider Vichada region.
