About Kuujjuarapik Airport
Kuujjuarapik Airport is the main air link serving the Nunavik community of Kuujjuaraapik on the eastern coast of Hudson Bay in northern Quebec. It is a compact regional airport with a single gravel runway and one passenger terminal, providing essential connections for residents, businesses and visitors in this remote part of Nord-du-Quebec.
The airport is located about 1 km southwest of the village centre, making it a short trip between the terminal and the community. It is served mainly by Air Inuit and Air Creebec, with scheduled flights linking Kuujjuaraapik to Montreal-Trudeau and other communities across Nunavik and the James Bay region.
Terminal facilities are small but functional, with airline check-in, a security screening area, a baggage area and a compact waiting space. A newer terminal replaced older infrastructure in the 2000s, improving passenger handling for the limited but steady schedule of northern flights.
Ground transportation from the airport is straightforward due to the short distance into town; travellers typically continue by taxi or pre-arranged transfer. The airport remains an important gateway for reaching Hudson Bay coastal communities and onward destinations in northern Quebec.
