About Kodiak Municipal Airport
Kodiak Municipal Airport is a city-owned public-use airport serving Kodiak, a community on Kodiak Island in the U.S. state of Alaska. Activated in 1962, the airport supports general aviation activity and complements Kodiak Airport (ADQ), which handles scheduled airline traffic for the region.
The airport operates a single asphalt runway, Runway 2/20, measuring approximately 2,475 by 40 feet. There is no control tower, and the facility mainly serves private aircraft, small charter operations and local aviation needs rather than scheduled passenger flights.
Located about two nautical miles northeast of downtown Kodiak, the airport has road access via Mill Bay Road and is only a short drive from the city centre. Its position close to shops, services and the local hospital makes it convenient for transient and local aircraft, as well as emergency operations.
While on-site amenities are limited, the airport's compact layout and central location make it a practical general aviation gateway for pilots and passengers travelling to and from Kodiak Island.
