About Kirksville Regional Airport
Kirksville Regional Airport is a city-owned public airport serving Kirksville, Adair County, and the wider northeastern Missouri region. Located about four miles south of downtown Kirksville just off U.S. Highway 63, it supports scheduled commercial service as well as general aviation and corporate aircraft traffic.
Scheduled passenger service is provided through the federal Essential Air Service program, currently with Contour Airlines flights to Chicago O'Hare. The compact passenger terminal offers free Wi-Fi, a waiting area, vending machines, restrooms, and rental car access, with free on-site parking for travelers.
The airport is an FAA Part 139 facility with a runway of more than 6,000 feet and instrument approach capability. Construction of a new, larger passenger terminal began in April 2025, with completion expected in summer 2026.
Because the airport sits along U.S. Highway 63, downtown Kirksville, Truman State University, and A.T. Still University are a short drive away, making IRK a practical gateway for business, campus, and leisure travel in the region.
