About Naval Air Station Kingsville
Naval Air Station Kingsville is a U.S. Navy training airfield located about 3 miles east of Kingsville, Texas, in Kleberg County. Established in 1942 as an auxiliary field for advanced pilot training near Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, it has grown into one of the Navy's primary locations for tactical jet aviation training.
Today the installation is the headquarters of Training Air Wing Two and trains undergraduate jet and strike pilots for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, primarily using T-45 Goshawk aircraft. The air station also operates the nearby NALF Orange Grove satellite airfield and supports several tenant commands.
The airfield lies just east of Kingsville and roughly 48 miles (77 km) southwest of Corpus Christi, with road access via U.S. Highway 77 and surrounding local routes. Because it is an active military installation, entry is controlled, and onward travel is typically by private vehicle, taxi, rental car or pre-arranged transfer.
Facilities on base serve personnel and authorized visitors, including dining, fitness, recreational lodging, a bowling center and a station library. The air station remains a key part of the South Texas military community and regional training infrastructure.
