About King Fahd International Airport
King Fahd International Airport is the main international airport serving Dammam and the wider Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Opened for commercial traffic on 28 November 1999, it took over from Dhahran International Airport and has since become a key gateway for the region.
Located approximately 35 km northwest of Dammam, the airport also serves nearby cities including Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Jubail. It covers one of the largest airport land areas in the world, about 776 km², and has been operated by Dammam Airports Company (DACO) since 2017.
Passenger operations are concentrated in the six-storey Main Terminal, which handles domestic and international flights together, while separate Aramco and Royal terminals serve non-public aviation. The airport is a hub for carriers including Saudia, Flynas and Flyadeal.
Road connections via King Fahd Road link the airport to Dammam and surrounding areas, with taxis, ride-hailing, SAPTCO buses, rental cars and private transfers available. Inside the terminal, travellers have access to dining, shopping, lounges, free Wi-Fi, prayer rooms and other passenger services.
