About Kickapoo Downtown Airport
Kickapoo Downtown Airport is a city-owned public-use general aviation airport serving Wichita Falls, Texas, and the surrounding North Texas region. The airport has supported local aviation since it opened in May 1940 and is now operated by the City of Wichita Falls.
Located about 3 miles (5 km) south of downtown Wichita Falls, the airport primarily serves private, business and training flights rather than scheduled commercial airline traffic. It features a single concrete runway, Runway 17/35, along with a general aviation terminal building, ramp space, hangars and tiedown parking.
Pilots and passengers have access to a pilot lounge, flight planning room, free Wi-Fi, restrooms, aviation fuel and ground handling support. Flight training and aircraft rental are also available, and the airport is home to a number of based aircraft.
Because of its location just south of the city centre, the airport offers quick road access to downtown Wichita Falls, Sheppard Air Force Base and nearby communities via Jacksboro Highway, with taxis, rental cars and private transfers available for onward travel.
