About Kenmore Air Harbor Seaplane Base
Kenmore Air Harbor Seaplane Base is a public-use seaplane base on the north shore of Lake Washington in Kenmore, Washington, about 14 miles northeast of downtown Seattle. It is the main operating base for Kenmore Air and serves scheduled and chartered floatplane routes across western Washington and parts of southwestern British Columbia.
The base dates to 1946, when Bob Munro and two friends founded Kenmore Air at a former shingle mill site and began building what is now a five-acre waterfront campus. Today the property is widely considered the largest seaplane base in the continental United States, with two water runways used for aircraft operations.
Passenger service operates from a single compact terminal and dock area, where travelers board floatplanes for the San Juan Islands, Victoria, Vancouver and scenic flights over the Seattle area. The terminal keeps arrivals and departures close together, with a short walk between the waiting area, dock and parking.
Kenmore Air Harbor is about one mile south of central Kenmore and is reached by road via State Route 522 and nearby freeway connections. Taxis, rideshares, private transfers and rental cars provide onward travel to Seattle, Bellevue, the Eastside and other Puget Sound destinations.
