Kaukura Airport is the small air gateway to Kaukura Atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago of French Polynesia. Opened in 1994, it connects the atoll to the rest of the territory through short domestic flights operated mainly by Air Tahiti.
The airport sits on a narrow strip of coral land about 2 km from the centre of Raitahiti, the atoll's main village. It has a single paved runway of about 1,080 m and one compact terminal used for both arrivals and departures.
There is no public transport or taxi service on the atoll, so most visitors are met at the terminal by their guesthouse or pension, which arranges the short transfer to accommodation. Getting around the atoll is typically by bicycle or on foot.
Facilities are minimal, limited mainly to a small waiting area rather than shops and restaurants, so travellers are advised to bring water and snacks. Despite its simplicity, the airport provides an essential and reliable link to Papeete and neighbouring atolls for local residents and visitors.
