About John Glenn Columbus International Airport

John Glenn Columbus International Airport is the main commercial airport serving Columbus, Ohio, and the wider Central Ohio region. Originally opened in 1929 as Port Columbus International Airport, it was renamed in 2016 to honor Ohio native, astronaut, and former U.S. Senator John Glenn.

Located about 10 km east of downtown Columbus, the airport operates a single main passenger terminal with three concourses, A, B, and C, and offers nonstop service to more than 50 domestic and seasonal international destinations. It is managed by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority.

The airport is connected to the city by I-670, COTA public buses, taxis, rideshare services, private transfers, and rental cars, making it relatively easy to continue to downtown Columbus and surrounding areas.

A major modernization project, CMH Next, is currently building a new terminal with 36 gates and a consolidated security checkpoint, scheduled to open in early 2029.
