About Jinnah International Airport

Jinnah International Airport is Pakistan's largest and busiest airport and the main international gateway to Karachi, the capital of Sindh province. Located about 14 km east of central Karachi, it connects the city with domestic destinations and international routes across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

The airport traces its history to 1929, when commercial flights began from the former Drigh Road airfield, and it was later renamed in honor of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. The present Jinnah Terminal Complex opened in 1992 and handles scheduled passenger flights through two satellite concourses: the East Satellite for international services and the West Satellite for domestic services.

The airport is reached by road from central Karachi, with taxis, ride-hailing services, private transfers, and rental cars providing onward connections to the city centre, Clifton, and other districts. Journey times vary depending on traffic.

Passengers can use a range of facilities across the terminal complex, including lounges, restaurants, cafés, duty-free shopping, prayer areas, currency exchange, and accessibility services, making it a key hub for both leisure and business travel in southern Pakistan.
