About Jasper County Airport
Jasper County Airport is a public general aviation airport serving Rensselaer, Jasper County, and the surrounding northwest Indiana region. Opened in May 1941, the airport sits about one mile northwest of Rensselaer and is used primarily by private pilots, business aviation, and occasional air taxi operations.
The airport has two runways: a 4,000-foot concrete runway (18/36) and a 1,450-foot turf runway (9/27). Because it has no control tower, pilots use the common traffic advisory frequency for arrivals and departures, and weather information is available through the airport's automated weather observation system.
Facilities include a fixed-base operator, SteinKamp Aviation, with aviation fuel such as 100LL and Jet A, hangars and tiedown parking, and minor airframe and powerplant maintenance. The airport is managed by the Jasper County Airport Authority to support aviation throughout the county.
Located in northwest Indiana near Interstate 65, the airport is about 100 miles south of Chicago and about 100 miles north of Indianapolis. Ground access is primarily by private vehicle or pre-arranged transfer, making the airport a practical stop for private and business aviation in the region.
