Islamabad International Airport is the main airport serving Pakistan's capital and the neighboring city of Rawalpindi. It began full operations in May 2018, replacing Benazir Bhutto International Airport, and now handles the majority of international and domestic flights for the Islamabad–Rawalpindi metropolitan area.
Located roughly 25–30 km southwest of central Islamabad near Fateh Jang, the airport is reached via Srinagar Highway. A single Y-shaped terminal handles domestic and international passengers on separate levels and in separate secured departure areas, with facilities for check-in, security, immigration, baggage claim and customs.
The airport is connected to Islamabad and Rawalpindi by metro bus service, taxis, app-based rides, private transfers, rental cars and road links, making onward travel to the city centre and surrounding areas relatively straightforward.
