About Iowa City Municipal Airport
Iowa City Municipal Airport is a public-use general aviation airport serving Iowa City, the University of Iowa, and surrounding Johnson County. Opened in 1918, it is regarded as the oldest civil airport west of the Mississippi River still operating in its original location.
The airport sits about two miles southwest of downtown Iowa City and roughly ten minutes by road from the city centre, the University of Iowa campus, and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. It does not offer scheduled commercial airline service, instead supporting private, business, charter, flight training, and other general aviation activity.
The airport operates two runways and a single terminal and administration building at 1801 South Riverside Drive. The on-site fixed-base operator provides fueling, hangar space, aircraft maintenance, pilot services, and passenger amenities, while the terminal includes a lobby, meeting room, and a public viewing area.
