About Igor I. Sikorsky Memorial Airport
Igor I. Sikorsky Memorial Airport is a public aviation facility serving Bridgeport and the coastal communities of Fairfield County, Connecticut. Originally opened as Bridgeport Municipal Airport in 1937, it was renamed in 1972 to honor aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky, whose aircraft company has been based adjacent to the airfield since 1929.
Located in Stratford about 3 miles southeast of downtown Bridgeport, the airport primarily supports general aviation, private, and limited charter operations, while also serving as a convenient regional gateway. Its single passenger terminal provides check-in, security, and waiting areas, with additional services offered through an on-site fixed-base operator.
The airport is reached by road and offers parking, taxis, ride-share services, and a Coastal Link bus connection; rental cars are available on the field. Nearby rail connections to Bridgeport provide onward travel along the Connecticut shoreline toward New Haven and New York.
With its waterfront setting next to Long Island Sound, the airport gives travelers easy access to Bridgeport, Stratford, Fairfield, Milford, and surrounding business and coastal destinations.
