Hyderabad Airport (HDD)

Hyderabad Airport (HDD) is a small civil airfield serving Hyderabad, the second-largest city in Sindh, Pakistan, about 8 km south of the city centre. Scheduled commercial flights have not operated since 2013, so road transfers mainly connect the airport with Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Kotri and the wider Sindh region, including onward journeys to Karachi.

About Hyderabad Airport

Hyderabad Airport (HDD) is a small civil airfield serving Hyderabad, the second-largest city in Sindh province, Pakistan. It lies roughly 8 km south of the city centre and has a single asphalt runway of about 2,133 metres. Although the airport historically handled domestic flights, scheduled commercial traffic was suspended in 2013, and it now mainly supports general aviation, charter and occasional specialized operations.

The airport reopened to commercial flights in August 2008 when Pakistan International Airlines introduced twice-weekly services to Islamabad and Lahore via Nawabshah, before commercial operations ended again in 2013. Its single terminal building and apron remain in place, with limited passenger infrastructure reflecting current use.

Road access connects the airport to central Hyderabad, nearby Jamshoro and Kotri, and the M-9 motorway toward Karachi, which lies about 150 km to the southwest. Most scheduled air travelers in the region therefore use Jinnah International Airport in Karachi and continue by road.

Because on-site facilities are limited, visitors arriving by private or charter aircraft should arrange onward transport in advance. The airport's main value today is as a convenient landing point close to Hyderabad and the surrounding districts of Sindh.
