Hornafjörður Airport is the main regional airport serving Höfn and southeastern Iceland. It opened in 1965, replacing an earlier landing area on the coast, and its terminal was expanded in the early 1980s to accommodate growing numbers of travellers visiting the surrounding region.
Located about 5 km north of Höfn on Route 982 off the Ring Road, the airport provides domestic connections, mainly between Höfn and Reykjavík, and functions as a practical gateway for visitors heading to Vatnajökull and Jökulsárlón.
The airport has a single compact terminal with check-in, a small waiting area, baggage claim and car rental services. Travel between the airport and central Höfn is short by road, with a typical drive of around 5 to 10 minutes.
