About Hihifo Airport
Hihifo Airport is the main airport serving Wallis Island and the wider French overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna. Located in the Hihifo district north of the capital, Mata-Utu, it connects the territory with Nouméa in New Caledonia, Nadi in Fiji, and the neighboring island of Futuna.
The airport has a single passenger terminal and a runway suitable for regional aircraft operated by Aircalin and Air Loyauté. Despite its small size, it functions as the territory's primary point of arrival for both residents and international visitors.
Hihifo Airport is around 6.5 kilometres from Mata-Utu. Public buses and taxis are not available on Wallis Island, so most travelers rely on hotel shuttles or vehicles arranged in advance.
Facilities at the terminal are limited, and most restaurants, shops, banks, and other services are found in Mata-Utu. Planning onward transport before arrival is recommended.
