This public general aviation airport serves Laurel and Jones County in south-central Mississippi. Opened in April 1940, it was originally known as Laurel Airport and has long supported the area's aviation needs, from early commercial flights to private and business flying.
During World War II the airfield operated as Laurel Army Airfield, and after the war it returned to civil use. Scheduled airline service once operated here until flights shifted to Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport in 1974; today the airport functions as a general aviation facility with no scheduled passenger airlines.
Located about three miles southwest of downtown Laurel, the airport covers roughly 1,350 acres and has a single asphalt runway, 13/31, measuring 5,513 feet. Its facilities support private aircraft, charter operations, flight training and business aviation.
The airport is reached by local roads from Laurel and surrounding communities, with short driving times to the city centre and connections to the wider Pine Belt region. On-site services include aviation fuel, hangars, tiedowns, minor maintenance and a courtesy vehicle.
