Khwaja Abdullah Ansari International Airport is the main airport serving Herat and the western region of Afghanistan. Built in the 1960s, it has long supported the city's connections to domestic destinations and the wider region, and in January 2021 it was renamed after the 11th-century Herat-born Sufi scholar Khwaja Abdullah Ansari.
Located about 10.5 km southeast of central Herat in Guzara District, the airport operates from a single passenger terminal that handles both domestic and international flights.
