About Hector International Airport
Hector International Airport is the primary commercial airport serving Fargo, North Dakota and the surrounding Fargo–Moorhead metropolitan area. It connects the region to major U.S. hubs and supports both business and leisure travel across the Red River Valley.
The airport traces its history to 1931, when the site was dedicated as Fargo's Municipal Airport, Hector Field, and it became Hector International Airport in 1982. The present passenger terminal opened in 1986 and has since been updated, with a 2024 expansion adding gates and a parking ramp. Today American, Allegiant, Delta, Frontier and United provide scheduled service from FAR.
Located about 6 km northwest of downtown Fargo, the airport is reached by car via local roads, with taxis, ride-hailing, rental cars and parking available. Most points in central Fargo and Moorhead are a short drive away, making onward travel straightforward.
