About Hastings Airport
Hastings Airport is a small airfield serving Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. Located in the town of Hastings in the Western Area, it is managed by the Sierra Leone Airports Authority and has a single paved runway used mainly for domestic and charter operations.
Historically, the airfield was the home base of Eagle Air, which connected Freetown with domestic destinations such as Bo, Kenema and Yengema, and it was also used by UN missions in Sierra Leone. Plans to develop it as a hub for national flights have been discussed over the years.
The airport lies roughly 20 km southeast of central Freetown and is reached by road from the city and nearby towns such as Waterloo. Travelers can continue by taxi, private transfer or rental car to hotels and other destinations across the Freetown area.
Because it is a small facility, passenger services and amenities are limited, but the airfield provides a useful point for domestic and charter flying in the Freetown region.
