About Hana Airport
Hana Airport is a small regional public-use airport on Maui's east shore, about three miles northwest of Hana town. Owned and operated by the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation Airports Division, it mainly serves commuter, air taxi and general aviation traffic.
The airport has a single asphalt runway, designated 08/26, and one compact passenger terminal. Commuter airlines connect Hana with Kahului and Honolulu, making it a practical air link to Maui's remote east side, the Hana Highway and nearby areas such as the Kipahulu section of Haleakala National Park.
Road access is from the Hana Highway via Alalele Place, with free parking next to the terminal. Ground transportation options include rental cars and pre-arranged transfers, since public transport and taxis are limited in the Hana area.
Facilities are modest but sufficient for regional travel, with restrooms and vending, and the small scale keeps arrivals and departures simple. The airport functions as an important gateway for visitors exploring Hana and the surrounding east Maui coastline.
