Hampton Municipal Airport (HPT) is a public general aviation airport serving Hampton and Franklin County in north-central Iowa. The airport opened in August 1969 and remains publicly owned by the City of Hampton, supporting private flying, business aviation, flight training and other general aviation activity rather than scheduled airline service.
Located about two miles southwest of downtown Hampton, the airfield has a single paved runway designated 17/35 that measures 4,020 by 75 feet and can accommodate small aircraft and some mid-size jets. The airport is uncontrolled, so pilots coordinate arrivals and departures on the common traffic advisory frequency, with weather information available from an on-site AWOS station.
The on-site fixed-base operator, Schumann Aviation, provides 100LL and Jet-A fuel, aircraft parking in hangars and on tiedowns, minor maintenance services and a pilot lounge. The airport's position near US Highway 65 offers convenient road access to Hampton, Iowa Falls and Mason City, making it a practical stop for private flights into the region.
