About Half Moon Bay Airport

Half Moon Bay Airport is a public general aviation airport in San Mateo County on California's Pacific coast, about five to six miles northwest of downtown Half Moon Bay and roughly 20 miles south of San Francisco. Also known as Eddie Andreini Sr. Airfield, it primarily serves private pilots, business aircraft, and coastal communities rather than scheduled airlines.

The airfield was built in 1942 as a military flight strip for the U.S. Army and activated in March 1943, then transferred to San Mateo County in 1947 for civil use. It has a single asphalt and concrete runway, Runway 12/30, measuring 5,000 feet by 150 feet, and operates as a non-towered general aviation field.

Facilities center on a small terminal and administration building plus a county-operated fixed-base operator offering fuel, parking, hangars, a café or restaurant, restrooms, and Wi-Fi. There is no scheduled airline service; access is mainly by private aircraft, charter flights, and other general aviation traffic.

Located just off State Route 1, the airport provides easy road access to Half Moon Bay, Pillar Point Harbor, the Mavericks surf break, and the San Francisco Peninsula, making it a practical coastal gateway for pilots and visitors.
