About Gustavus Airport
Gustavus Airport is the main air gateway to Gustavus and Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in Southeast Alaska. It is a state-owned public-use airport that began operations in 1949 and serves a community with no road connection to the regional highway system.
The airport is located about 2 miles from Gustavus and approximately 10 miles by road from Bartlett Cove, the park's headquarters and the site of Glacier Bay Lodge. It is roughly 48 air miles northwest of Juneau, the main connection point for scheduled flights and onward travel.
The airfield has two runways, including a 6,720-foot main runway that can accommodate regional jets, and a compact terminal area served by Alaska Airlines seasonal service, Alaska Seaplanes and air taxis. Because road access is limited, most visitors continue by lodge shuttle, taxi, private transfer, rental car or the summer ferry link from Juneau.
