Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC)

Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport is the main airport serving Gunnison, Crested Butte, and the surrounding Gunnison Valley in central Colorado. It is a county-owned public airport located about one mile southwest of Gunnison and provides a convenient entry point for visitors heading to Crested Butte Mountain Resort and the region's outdoor recreation areas. Opened in August 1947, the airport has developed into a regional commercial facility served by United Airlines, United Express, and American Airlines, with year-round flights to Denver and seasonal nonstop service to Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth. A major terminal renovation completed in 2022 updated the passenger building with new security screening, hold rooms, jet bridges, baggage claim, restrooms, and food and beverage space. Located roughly 28 miles from Crested Butte and 31 miles from Mt. Crested Butte, the airport is reached mainly by car, rental car, pre-arranged shuttle, taxi, private transfer, or group bus. Local public buses do not serve the terminal, so travelers should plan airport transportation in advance. The single-terminal facility is compact and straightforward, with rental car counters and parking close to the terminal. Its location and services make it a practical gateway for ski visitors in winter and travelers exploring the Gunnison Valley in summer.
