About Guaraní International Airport
Guaraní International Airport is the international airport serving Ciudad del Este and the Alto Paraná region of eastern Paraguay, close to the borders with Brazil and Argentina. Opened on 20 August 1993, it replaced the former Alejo García Airport, which had become surrounded by urban development in Ciudad del Este.
The airport is located in the municipality of Minga Guazú, approximately 24 km from central Ciudad del Este along National Route 7. Operated by Paraguay's National Directorate of Civil Aviation (DINAC), it is the country's second international airport and an important gateway for the Triple Frontier and the nearby Iguazu Falls area.
A single passenger terminal handles domestic and international flights, linking the region to Asunción and selected regional destinations. The airport also supports cargo operations that serve the commercial activity of the eastern border region.
Passenger facilities are compact and practical, with check-in, security, baggage claim, a café, a duty-free shop, an ATM and onward transport options including taxis and local buses.
