About Guanajuato International Airport
Guanajuato International Airport is the main airport serving León, the state capital of Guanajuato and the wider Bajío region of central Mexico. Located in the municipality of Silao, it handles domestic and international flights and is an important connection point for travel between Mexico and the United States.
Opened in 1999, the airport replaced the former San Carlos Airport in León. It operates a single passenger terminal used for both domestic and international flights, together with a general aviation building.
The airport sits near the Silao–León highway, roughly 26 km from central León and about 27 km from Guanajuato City. Travelers can reach both cities and nearby destinations such as Silao, Irapuato and San Miguel de Allende by taxi, private transfer, ride-hailing, shuttle or rental car.
